The American Idol 2012 two-night finale is finally about to begin. With just two artists left to battle it out for the title, it's certainly going to be a tough race to the finish. This is somewhat so since Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips bring totally different talents to the AI stage.
So what were these artists' best songs of the season?
According to one expert source, Phillip Phillips delivered his top tune when the top 3 were on stage and when this talent wasn't feeling in top shape due to continuing kidney problems that should have seen him in the hospital instead of competing on the TV talent show.
But, happily, he soldiered on to sing We've Got Tonight. This was an emotional number that had double Phil taking on a tune that was way out of his typical realm. It was just downright beautiful, with Jimmy Iovine deeming the Bob Seger cover "the best performance of the season."
Meanwhile, it's no surprise that Jessica Sanchez, the 16-year-old with the vocal abilities of a person twice her age, was given top praise for her Whitney Houston cover of I Will Always Love You sung during for the week of the top 13.
After this powerhouse performance, Jessica Sanchez was on track for the win. She was trending all over the social media world, and she grabbed fans from all walks of life while her fans in her home town of San Diego banded together to give her an extra push.
In fact, even to this day, this was arguably the most stirring repeat performance of this iconic song originally sung by the late, great Whitney Houston. It even may beat the Jordin Sparks version delivered in memory of Whitney during the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. It was, quite simply, a Jessica Sanchez masterpiece on American Idol 2012.
