American Idol 2012 may have concluded with a winning performance by newly minted champion Phillip Phillips, but the Georgia native's skills weren't the only thing on display during the May 23 finale. Music icon Chaka Khan and Idol winner Fantasia Barrino put their own assets on display by donning cat suits during their respective guest performances.
Fantasia was first to show off her stuff when she joined third-place finisher Joshua Ledet for a rendition of the Elton John tune "Take Me to the Pilot." The singer hit the stage screaming, dressed in a sequined black cat suit that featured substantial slits up each leg. It was something of an unfortunate wardrobe selection for Fantasia, and the bewildering look did nothing to add to the duo's performance.
A little later, Chaka Khan joined the top 6 girls—including Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Elise Testone, Jessica Sanchez, Shannon Magrane and Erika Van Pelt-- for the latter portion of a girl-power infused medley. She appeared during the group's version of "I'm Every Woman," much to the delight of the audience, wearing a skin-tight, flesh-colored body suit. It was certainly a bold fashion statement, and whether or not it worked is up for debate, but she gets points for boldness and bravery.
Did Chaka Khan and Fantasia make good wardrobe choices for their American Idol 2012 finale performances?
