The Vampire Diaries season 3 ended with Klaus in Tyler's body, meaning that the big emotional goodbye between Caroline and Tyler was really between Caroline and Klaus (ouch!). With everything that everyone's going through, how soon will it be before someone just has enough and breaks?
Vampire Diaries Season 4 Spoilers
Candice Accola talked to TV Guide (below) about the "emotionally taxing day" filming the finale, since her character went through so many different emotions in "The Departed": "It was just tragic. It was so sad. She almost kind of got this romantic love affair that she wanted and it just didn't work out." While details of The Vampire Diaries season 4 are scarce, Accola is "personally excited to see what everyone's breaking point is going to be because at this point everyone has really had to keep it together."
That is bound to happen to at least one of them, considering everything that's going on. After all, you have Elena becoming a vampire, Bonnie's deal with Klaus, the love triangle, Caroline finding out Tyler's not dead but Klaus is in his body, Tyler having to deal with that once he gets his body back, Bonnie being the only one in their group who can maybe reverse what has happened to Elena and make her human again, the Originals still left to deal with, and so much more, not to mention Matt's guilt that Stefan saved him first which led to Elena becoming a vampire and Jeremy's determination to protect his sister. Really, at this point, it seems like just a matter of who breaks first, not if someone will.
Accola also talked about how her character will feel about the fact that Klaus was in Tyler's body for that emotional goodbye: "I think Caroline might be a little disturbed to find out that Klaus was inside of Tyler." How else would she feel? That was such an emotional scene for the couple, and it's going to have to hurt to know that instead of being with the one she loves, it was with the one who has been trying to woo her and not taking no for an answer. Klaus is the one who has been terrorizing Mystic Falls, killing her friends, and responsible for tears, tragedy, and blood. Poor Caroline! That could lead to Caroline reaching a breaking point and saying something to Bonnie, though at the same time, she does have her to thank because Bonnie's responsible for all of them—including Tyler—still being alive. That could be the light at the end of the tunnel after a breaking point.
