The Vampire Diaries left Damon alone at the end of its season finale. Elena chose his younger brother, and fans can expect some new things ahead for Damon Salvatore in season four. Ian Somerhalder spoke about his character at a recent event, and he wants to see some changes in the upcoming season.
Somerhalder hasn't been completely happy with the direction his character has taken since season one. He liked playing the darker side of his character, and he is hoping to see a return to that next season. He said the following about his character and how he felt about, according to Wet Paint:
"Season 2, I was very disenchanted with where Damon was, as a character. Because I'm used to being this suave, funny, Dylan dude, who bites everybody and screws all the women and drinks lots of booze and has fun... and then Damon sort of had a conscious and a heart and all this s**t I never thought that he would have and didn't care for him to have."
With Elena and Katherine, played by Nina Dobrev, both out of the picture, Somerhalder hopes that Damon can have more fun on The Vampire Diaries. Season one Damon was more of a loose cannon. Are fans ready to see the return of that? Season one Damon had his moments. Anyone remember shirtless Damon dancing? However, not all of the moments were good. Keeping Caroline like he did and turning Vicki are just two of the bad moments fans can remember.
It will be interesting to see which way Damon will go once the season returns. What do you think? Are you ready for the return of the dark carefree Damon Salvatore?
