One of the MTV Movie Awards 2012 winners seems to be a lock so far. In a landslide fan vote, it looks like the spellbinding magic of 'Harry Potter' will defeat the heroic appetite of "Hunger Games' for one award!
While the MTV Movie Awards winners are still to come later on Sunday night, there is a fan vote being displayed online which shows a clear victor emerging. That victor is none other than the heroic Harry Potter, from the "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2" movie. He is leading in the Best Hero category as of this report by about 50,000 votes or more over Katniss Everdeen of "Hunger Games." Fans are voting by tweeting a particular hashtag on Twitter such as "#votepotter" or "#votekatniss" to register their votes.
According to MTV's Twitter Tracker, sitting in the third spot is the first Avenger, Captain America, and his co-worker/teammate, Thor, is in fourth. The final spot is held down by Jenko from "21 Jump Street." The mere mortal from a comedy remake of an old television show looks like he doesn't have "a shot," despite being pictured with a gun in hand.
This could be a big night overall for "Harry Potter" the fans of the film franchise. The movies, Daniel Radcliffe or his cohorts have not won any Oscars for the five-part saga based on J.K. Rowling's fantasy novels, and the fans felt let down by that. While the MTV Movie Awards aren't quite the same thing, racking up a bunch of awards here will send a clear message. The fans have spoken and Harry Potter deserves its rightful place among the top films of all time, even if the Academy couldn't recognize it. As for Katniss, it's likely she will get an award of some sort. If not this year, then down the road at a future MTV show.
By the way, Harry Potter has yet to win, and even though he has a commanding lead, if enough Katniss fans or Avengers fans step up, there's always a chance. However, it would take some work from the rest of The Avengers and all the people who saw the new film to boost those heroes into the same numbers as Harry or Katniss!
