You know you watched it, and TNT thanks you! The new 'Dallas' premiere was the number one scripted series premiere on all of cable for the year-to-date with 6,863,000 viewers. TNT is one of the top-rated cable networks and they often rank high or highest with their programs. In fact, this is the third consecutive summer that they have scored the highest ranking for a series launch, following 'Rizzoli & Isles' in 2010 and 'Falling Skies' in 2011.
Some of the numbers breakdown like this: 1,926,000 adults 18-49 and 2,482,000 adults 25-54. Lots more viewers in the 25-54-year-old group! It's probably fair to assume most of those folks were watching the original series back in 1978 on CBS when it came out as a five-part miniseries. It was so popular that the network decided to make it a regular series. That sure paid off for CBS, the show still ranks as one of the most popular shows of all time and ran until 1991.
