True Blood season 5 is going to be introducing the character of Alcide's father, and that role has now reportedly been cast. So what's coming up there and how are flashbacks related?
Season 5 Spoilers and Casting News
According to True-Blood.net, Robert Patrick is going to be recurring as Alcide's father. Jackson Herveaux will first be introduced in episode 9, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," and he'll not only be shown in flashbacks but in the present as well. However, he's going to be very different (at least strength-wise mentally) when you look at him in the two time periods. The flashbacks are the ones showing Alcide and Debbie when they were teenagers, and Jackson was a "powerful, inspiring, and heroic" character then. That's not true in the present, as "he's pretty much given up on life." So this isn't a character that Alcide can necessarily turn to for some advice in a tough situation—but could that be what changes Jackson back?
So how will Robert Patrick do in True Blood season 5? This character could give fans insight into Alcide in the present, and it should be entertaining to see how Jackson fits into the show. Will Alcide be able to restore his father to the "heroic" figure he once was? With Patrick recurring, it is possible that there will be some growth there. What will the relationship be like between Alcide and Jackson when the character's arc ends?
