True Blood fans were likely shocked at the bizarre scene between Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and the newly-turned vampire Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) that was full of nudity and who-knows-what. Recently, McMillian spoke out about the scene and what's in store between Jason and Steve in the fifth season.
"Shooting that was just fun," McMillian said. "Ryan and I love working together. He's an actor I can try anything with and vice versa. We spend most of our time trying to crack each other up, and then trying not to laugh as a result." It's amazing how they refrained from busting out in laughter while shooting it.
Although the character Steve Newlin was formerly a staunch opposer of vampires, the actor is having a blast with the fangs. "I thought it was great!" McMillian said. "Anyone who plays a human would love to get supernatural powers at some point." The burning question on fans minds, however, is what the heck is going on?
Is Steve genuinely attracted to Jason, and how is that going to play out? McMillian wasn't at liberty to reveal too much, but he did have something to say on the matter. "We really can't trust a lot of what Steve was saying in that moment. It was a mixed bag of truth and lies . . . he's definitely in love with Jason. He's coming after him. As for where he falls into the larger vampire picture, you'll see as the season goes along."
How the True Blood story will progress remains largely a mystery, but clearly all is not exactly how it seems right now. Jason will continue to resist Newlin's advances, but the Stackhouse brother will surely be in a load of danger. In the meantime, fans will just have to speculate on Newlin's real agenda and see if they're right.
