Emma Roberts and Chris Pine are the latest stars to express an interest in starring in Fifty Shades of Grey.
Perhaps Emma should start lobbying hard to win the role of Anastasia Steele - she wants to convince people that she's not just Julia Roberts' niece, and leaving her clean-cut image behind would definitely be a way to do that.
Yes, Aunt Julia has played a prostitute, but her hooker with a heart of gold certainly didn't find a Christian Grey in Richard Gere. But if you think about it, there are a lot of similarities between Fifty Shades and Pretty Woman - both of them are about extremely rich men who groom girls to become their perfect woman. But while Julia just got turned into a beautiful society lady, Emma Roberts would be transformed into a submissive sex partner who has to learn about a world of whips and chains instead of polo matches and operas.
Unfortunately she doesn't know that yet. According to Metro, here's what the actress said about playing Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey:
"I haven't read it, I don't even understand, but yeah, it sounds awesome. Anything racy, hot. Sure, let's get hot."
The movie is going to require lots of nude scenes and an actress and actor doing a lot of really awkward stuff together, so it's not one of those roles that you just say "Sure" to. However, Emma Roberts should have learned a bit about erotica while working on Adult World, a movie about a college student who ends up working at an adult book store instead of achieving her dream of becoming a great poet.
So who could be Emma's Christian Grey? If Ian Somerhalder doesn't get the part, Chris Pine might be interested in it. According to Celebuzz, the Star Trek actor said that he doesn't know much about Fifty Shades of Grey, but he does know lots of ladies that enjoy the books. So he said this about starring in the movie:
"If it's a good script... I'd take a look at it. But I don't know anything other than that."
So perhaps Chris Pine will be in the running for the role of Christian Grey along with Ian Somerhalder, Alexander Skarsgard, and Colin Egglesfield who have also expressed an interest in the role. Chris definitely has the right look for the part, but it would be unlike anything he's starred in before - right now his resume includes a lot of action movies and a rom-com or two.
So what do you think - would Chris Pine and Emma make the perfect Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, or are they both too clean-cut?
