A new Frank Ocean "Channel Orange" song, called "Sweet Life," has been released for online download as of Friday, July 6th. The song from the Odd Future singer is his first release since he came out as gay or bisexual in reports earlier this week.
According to Billboard.com, the new song, "Sweet Life," was unleashed on the same Tumblr blog where Ocean made his big revelation earlier this week. It's a sensual new track which will appear on the upcoming album, "Channel Orange," Ocean's first solo venture.
The LP is due out on July 17th via Def Jam, the same day as rap star Nas releases "Life Is Good," making for a big day for hip hop. To promote his new album, Ocean will also make an appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" next week. The singer is scheduled to appear on the Monday, July 9th show, although which song he will perform is unclear.
The new song certainly shows good things to come from Frank Ocean on "Channel Orange," as it's a throwback to other soulful R&B crooners like D'Angelo and Donnell Jones. Ocean is considered a rising star on the scene right now, and even though some have wondered if him coming out will hurt his success, it doesn't appear to be the case. As of late Friday afternoon and evening, the singer's album title and new song were both trending on Twitter, showing just how popular he is.
