One thing many American Idol fans agreed upon at the end of last season was the need for new judges. Jennifer Lopez has already said she does not want to return and Randy Jackson may not be wanted back by producers. A source close to the show stated, "They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up." This leaves fans to wonder who might be next in that seat.
It could be Adam Lambert. He is the only Idol alumnus brought back as a mentor, on Season 9. That proved to the producers that he can critique, something that has been sorely lacking since Simon Cowell left the show. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments," a source suggested of Lambert. It could be good at this point to have a former contestant as a judge, and a younger judging panel would help re-energize the show. With the addition of The Voice and X Factor, the careers of the judges have certainly gotten a boost. This could make being an American Idol judge more desirable to Lambert or anyone else offered the job.
