The last time our hero was seen, was not too long ago, but joined by his "super friends." It was May 2012 in fact, with Iron Man joining forces with Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye as "The Avengers." They managed to save New York City (and the Earth) from potentially being taken over by alien forces. Now Tony Stark will return to his "normal life" as a billionaire/playboy/philanthropist, who also dons a special flying suit of armor full of gadgets, gizmos, and explosive weapons.A new trailer for the film has already been revealed, but it's hard to find online right now. According to E! Online, the new footage from the movie, which is headed up by Shane Black (not Jon Favreau), shows off new Iron Man armor, as well as gives a glimpse of his new nemesis. That nemesis will be Mandarin, played by actor Ben Kingsley. Also in the movie will be Stephanie Szostak, who played in the film "Dinner for Schmucks."
Part of the plot has been revealed via the footage that was shown, as Stark's seaside mansion is apparently destroyed by heavy gunfire from the air. That includes all of his armor being destroyed as well, meaning he has to rebuild things from scratch. As mentioned in other articles, it's a similar concept to what's going on with Bruce Wayne in the "Dark Knight Rises" film's opening parts as well. So far, Shane Black has indicated that this film is halfway done.
By the way, fans at Comic Con 2012, including a group of kids on stage wearing their best Iron Man costumes, were surprised by Tony Stark himself, as Robert Downey Jr. showed up at the event. Check out the YouTube video below to see Downey's special appearance at Comic Con, playing up his cocky Stark character for the crowd as well.
"Iron Man 3" is expected to release on May 3, 2013. Are you excited for this third film in the series?
