When So You Think You Can Dance 2012 resumed on July 18, the top 20 hit the stage for a second time to perform for the judges' critiques and America's votes. Finalists Audrey Case and Matt Kazmierczak once again impressed by delivering a strong routine, this time a Sonya Tayeh contemporary piece that impelled guest judge Adam Shankman to make a bold prediction about season 9's eventual outcome.
During rehearsals, Sonya said her aim for the routine was to show a "strong, vicious" side of the two performers. Audrey claimed to be "so ready to show the world my aggressive side," but Matt scoffed at the notion, insisting that his diminutive partner has no tough side. But did she pull it off?
Absolutely. "Hear Me Now" by Steed Lord served as the musical backdrop for their second dance as a couple. Audrey struck some seriously incredible poses and her facial expressions were perfect. She is amazingly flexible and the two of them have fierce, palpable chemistry.
Nigel Lythgoe called it "absolutely fantastic" and praised the "stank steps" of Sonya's "darker style." He was impressed by their versatility, and predicted that they'd be "one of America's favorite couples." Mary Murphy called them "a dynamic duo for sure" and loved how they "maximize everything" despite their small stature. Adam admitted that he'd doubted her previously, but called Audrey "amazing." To Matt, he declared "if you keep it up like that, [the SYTYCD title] is yours to lose."
Both Audrey Case and Matt Kazmierczak steered clear of the bottom three and will dance again next week. What's up next for the talented twosome? Tune in to the July 25 episode of So You Think You Can Dance 2012 and find out.
