Supernatural returns to the CW for its eighth season on October 3, on its new night, Wednesday (but still at 9 p.m.), and one of the early episodes will show Sam and Dean attending an auction at a fancy party. More details are now out about that episode, including which monsters-of-the-week they'll be facing.
SPN Season 8 Episode Spoilers
It had already been revealed that Sam and Dean are attending a fancy party they get invitations to in the episode titled "What's Up Tiger Mommy," and there would be an ancient monster who is intent on getting what he came for. E! Online now has some more scoop about that episode, including what gods will be introduced. First there's Plutus, who is "the host of a high-end auction who likes the bids to go higher and higher," which isn't surprising since he's the God of wealth. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the ancient monster who's there to get what he's after is Mr. Vili, and he's described as willing to "do anything it takes to get" what he wants. Plutus isn't the only god around; Vili is a Norse god of creation and his name means "will."
Supernatural season 8 is far from the first time that the show is going to be bringing gods in (and let's leave God out of this for now). Just last season, Chronos, the god of Time, showed up, and in the season 5 episode, "Hammer of the Gods," among the gods present were two from Norse mythology: Odin and Baldur. Sam and Dean have survived their encounters with gods each time they've faced them, and they'll obviously do the same this time.
But what is everyone after? How does it tie into the arc of the season? The previous spoilers had revealed that the Winchester brothers are invited to this party; was it Plutus or Mr. Vili who invited them? There have been teases about a power source everyone wants; is this related to that? Will Sam and Dean have to face more adversaries like this in the future to get what they need to?
