The 50 Shades of Grey movie just lost two favorites for the role of Anastasia Steele in a matter of hours.
First, Emma Watson denied that she's up for the part, and now Elizabeth Olsen has said that she's not interested in starring in the film based on the popular "mommy porn."
According to The Insider, Elizabeth said, "No! No! No!" when she was asked if there is any chance that she'll star in the movie, which is a far cry from the "Yes! Yes! Yes!" that Ana is used to screaming anytime she's with Christian Grey.
So at first it would seem as though Elizabeth Olsen is not a fan of "kinky f**kery" and inner goddesses. However, she seems to understand the allure of 50 Shades of Grey. Here's what she said about the book:
It's had a huge impact on society. Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who've read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great.
She forgot about nipple clamps, vagina balls, whips, and handcuffs. And apparently the book has also impacted society by causing a baby boom—infants that are results of women discovering 50 Shades have been labeled "Greybies," which sounds a little gross.
Elizabeth went on to say this:
It's such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan. All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven't had access to this kind of thing before. I was talking to a guy who was making a joke about it, saying, 'Clearly these women just need to watch porn.' In a way, he's right.
So Elizabeth understands why women like 50 Shades, but she doesn't understand why they don't just watch porn instead of spending hours and hours reading a book. Maybe it's because you can't discreetly watch porn in public on a Kindle. It's a bit creepy that so many women read an erotic novel around other people, but it's seemingly become a very popular pastime. Luckily women won't have to worry about using their imaginations much longer—soon their fantasy will come to life in the 50 Shades movie, and there's sure to be plenty of porn knockoffs.
It would seem as though the options for the film are slowly being whittled down as actors and actresses distance themselves from it, but every day new options pop up—Rooney Mara, Angelina Jolie, Emilia Clarke, and Katie Cassidy are a few names that have recently been mentioned.
It's sad that Elizabeth isn't interested since she'd make an excellent Anastasia Steele—she's done nude scenes and is getting experience playing an inexperienced virgin like Ana in her movie Very Good Girls. But tomorrow someone else will step in to take her place on the list of favorites for the part.
So are you disappointed that Elizabeth doesn't want to play Ana?
