Was Fred Willard's ABC Show Cancelled Because...

The ABC network is no longing trusting Fred Willard. They've cancelled his new show, Trust Us With Your Life (TUWYL). ABC contends Willard's lewd conduct charges have nothing to do with their decision.

The news is apparently not something Willard saw coming. Last week he tweeted, "I was not fired from TUWYL so B sure to watch...."

What would be hard to swallow is if ABC kept Willard in their employment after he got seen with his pants down in a XXX-rated theater. To call the situation distasteful is a major understatement. It's down right disgusting. That's why it is important for ABC to distance themselves from the actor.

As for Willard, apparently nothing is phasing him. During his recent visit to speak with late night host, Jimmy Fallon, Willard admitted the situation was embarrassing. However, he had little else to offer. That seems to translate into him thinking he did nothing wrong. As long as he feels that way, is there really anything left to discuss?

I recall that Pee Wee Herman was also arrested for similar lewd conduct, and yet he was "forgiven" and back on tv with his children's show.

The San Jose Mercury News described Willard’s actions as “pulling a Pee Wee,” in reference to another comedic actor Paul Reubens, aka “Pee Wee Herman” who was arrested in a porn movie theater in 1991 for indecent exposure. The arrest had a devastating effect on Reubens' career.

We are told to give our personal commentary as we write articles. While I understand ABC's comment and certainly DO believe there were other reasons for Willard's show cancellation as well, I still think the lewd conduct charges had something to do with it. Nothing written here claims to be the gospel truth.

and just so you know how destructive what you do is - a basic search of 'fred willard' right now turns up YOUR headline 'Fred Willard's Show Cancelled From ABC Because of Host's Lewd Conduct' - an utter falsehood - presented as fact- by you. Great work.

I'm requesting the article be removed on my own. There was NEVER any attempt to paint anything as the gospel truth for Pete's sake. How many times do I have to say that. It's my opinion alone, which we're asked to give when we submit a piece. You are entitled to yours and I respect it. However, is there really a need to be so hateful?

I'm not being hateful at all - i merely called you out on a major gaffe and you responded by making excuses and deleting my comments - if you're going to write you publicly need to develop a thicker skin - "hateful"? give me a break. I'm merely a working writer that is disgusted with the current state of affairs whereby amateurs make things up as you did - again, did you write the words "'Fred Willard's Show Cancelled From ABC Because of Host's Lewd Conduct' ? If so, you should take responsibility and understand the ramifications of your actions.

I respect what you had to say; hence the title change, which I did by proper channels. I've asked the editors at Gather to decide if they feel the article needs to be removed. The ball is in their court. Either way, I'm changing the "lie" comment because you made a valid point. It just could have been made with more finesse. If you want to keep attacking me, that's totally up to you.

Wow....our growing Police State in this country is really curbing crime and ridding our society of lethal threats.......well spent tax dollars!

.......what a joke......decades ago the proper addressing of such public moments were commonplace....someone asked ya to zip up and save it for later at home.....today, society cares about money.....something else to fine us on and move ya through "the system".....the good news is the police were not sitting in a car eating donuts .....as for all the self righteous out there....well.....they just feed into the ignorance of it all and quite frankly are far from perfect to be pointing ANY finger at someone else.
