Jane by Design just wrapped its first season Tuesday night, and so far, there's no word on whether the show has been picked up for a second season.
The show never quite lived up to expectations, ratings-wise. Sadly, it was the worst rated scripted show on ABC Family this year (TV Series Finale), although none of the shows, with the exception of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Switched at Birth, do that much better in the ratings.
On the plus side, while the show started off with fewer viewers than The Nine Lives of Chloe King, the show it replaced, it wound up holding its audience better, and its finale had a wider audience than its predecessor.
They tied up a lot of storylines in "The Bonus Check." Rita (Smith Cho) and Ben (David Clayton Rogers) are back together. Jane (Erica Dasher) realized, with a little help, that she might have more than friend feelings for Billy (Nick Roux). Jane was able to get Jeremy (Rowly Dennis) to help Donovan Decker keep its Harrods contract. Jeremy let India (India de Beaufort) know that he wants to have a relationship. Left hanging was how Jane was going to explain to Gray (Andie McDowell) and Eli (Bryan Dechart) what she was doing at the high school.
So will Jane by Design get renewed? It's hard to to tell. It did no worse in the back eight episodes than the front ten, and those numbers where enough for the cable network to order the additional episodes. What do you think? Do you want to see more of Jane?
