Those Kindle Fire 2 release date rumors continue as recently Amazon has unveiled another new development. This time the company once known mostly for physical books has voyaged into the category of online gaming. Could this be a sign of new things to come for the latest edition of Amazon's tablet PC?
It was reported that the new Kindle Fire device will really need to step its game up to compete with the likes of Google Nexus 7 and the new iPad tablet. The Kindle Fire sales have been slumping lately for Amazon, mainly due to the fact there's only one version available, and quite honestly, it pales in comparison to the competitors.
However, news has come that Amazon has released its first major title in social gaming. The game is called "Living Classics," as seen in the trailer on YouTube, and will run through Facebook. The game has players controlling a family of foxes as they interact with the illustrations from popular literature including "Wizard of Oz" and "Alice in Wonderland." Smart move for a company that built itself on the concept of books, and now has digital books outselling print ones.
With all this in mind, it seems a no-brainer that these sorts of games will be ultimately sold through both Facebook and Amazon's marketplace for users to play with on the new Kindle Fire 2. In fact, it's probably a safe bet that the company will integrate them as part of its new tablet. The release date for this item is speculated to be in September, right ahead of the 2012 Christmas season. With the development of games, one would have to think the newest tablet will definitely be spruced up in terms of what it can accommodate for gameplay and graphics. So this definitely looks like a good sign from Amazon ahead of the new Kindle Fire's release.
Do you currently play social games on Facebook or via apps? Do you think Amazon will be able to be a major competitor in this particular niche of digital content online?
