NCIS: Los Angeles ended on quite the cliffhanger last season, and when the series returns next month, it's not going to be so easy to just get the team back together after what has happened. So what's coming up?
NCIS: LA Season 4 Spoilers
According to TV Guide, the premiere "takes place the following day" and "opens with Callen walking out of jail." However, that's where any good news stops for Callen, as he's "suspended for the duration of the investigation," of course. After all, he did shoot someone, and they caught it on camera. That's not going to be something they can easily explain away, even though the person he shot was The Chameleon. While you imagine that they'll get Callen back to work pretty quickly in NCIS: Los Angeles season 4, it's not going to be an easy journey getting there.
According to executive producer Shane Brennan, "The deeper we get into this story, the further Callen seems to fall. Callen makes a choice to protect Hetty. In doing that, Granger puts out an arrest warrant on Callen. It plays to the closeness of these two characters." Both characters have to somehow end up back at NCIS after the events of the season 3 finale (Callen shooting The Chameleon, Hetty quitting), so who will end up back at work first? Will Hetty end up returning to help Callen after he helps her, or will she find she can help him more by not being at work? This is a sticky situation for everyone involved, and it's not going to be something they can just forget. The aftermath of this is likely to be felt for multiple episodes throughout the season.
