Could 2012 Olympic swimming gold medalist Ryan Lochte actually appear on Dancing with the Stars? According to a recent report, it just might happen.
Lochte, who famously headed to the London Games hoping to outshine fellow swimmer and chief rival Michael Phelps, told reporters that he'd be keen on hoofing it stateside with the likes of DWTS pros Cheryl Burke, Karina Smirnoff and Derek Hough.
And in the interest of keeping the tension with the now-retired Phelps alive, he'd like his biggest competitor in the pool to be his biggest competition in the ballroom, too.
If Ryan Lochte makes good on the remark, he definitely wouldn't be the first Olympian to participate in the hit reality show. A slew of Games athletes --including beach volleyball star Misty May-Treanor, who will play for gold later this week in London, figure skaters Evan Lysacek and Kristi Yamaguchi and Team USA's 2012 Olympic swimming team captain Natalie Coughlin all participated. And that's just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. The list of former Olympians is a long one.
The All-Star season of Dancing with the Stars premieres September 24 on ABC.
