On August 8, American Idol's Phillip Phillips, who won the title earlier this year, is hitting the stage once again on FOX. This time he won't be competing but instead double Phil will be hawking his new video on So You Think You Can Dance.
In fact, Wednesday's SYTYCD will première the short film of Home which is Phillips' big hit. And the making of this hit is quite the champion's story since the song, which was used as the anthem for the US Olympic women's gymnastics team in London, made this song soar. That said, the tune went from number 98 to number 1 on the iTunes singles chart in what seemed like a nanosecond.
Talk about a big bounce, appropriate in more ways than one since Phillip had to bounce back from a serious illness to make this song and video, and the gymnastics team had to bounce big time in order to medal as much as they did in London at the Olympics 2012.
With all that has happened with Home, Phillip Phillips is shocked at his good fortune with this particular piece of music. He said, ""I never thought any of this would ever happen. Just to see the song do so well..."
The singer added, "It's pretty amazing to hear [fan's] stories [about their connections to the song] and to see how well it's done. And people are already doing covers of it on YouTube, which is weird."
Weird as that might be, Phillip is back on the radar for all who watch FOX as Phillips takes his video of Home to So You Think You Can Dance tonight. While SYTYCD starts at 8, pundits predict that his video will air at the top of the second hour, so stay tuned.
