The Dark Knight Rises box office is now just short of $400 million in the United States already. The film brought in an estimated $19.54 million over the weekend, running its four week total to $390.1 million. That's a pretty good haul for the third Batman movie from Christopher Nolan and it shows that the money could still be coming in for a few more weeks.
It was a tough weekend at the box office, with three new films debuting for movie-goers. The Bourne Legacy earned an estimated $40.27 million, The Campaign made an estimated $27.44 million and Hope Springs brought in an estimated $15.6 million. Those are strong showings during the first weekend for all three films.
After ranking No. 1 at the box office before this weekend, the sequel to The Dark Knight slipped to third in the rankings. That's still not too bad, as this is the fourth straight weekend that the movie has brought in a good showing. The pace has slowed down just a bit though, so it raises the question of whether $500 is still within reach at the domestic box office alone.
Did you get a chance to see The Dark Knight Rises in theaters yet? Do you think that it can re-take the top spot in the domestic box office rankings during the next two weeks?
