NCIS season 10 is going to explore the aftermath of the explosion from last May's finale, but it's also going to be delving into the families of the team members as well. Who's returning with a new guest star for an episode?
Season 10 Spoilers
According to TV Guide, Billy Dee Williams is going to be guest starring as "LJ, a World War II veteran and close friend of the Gibbs clan." Yes, this is the Leroy Jethro Jackson Gibbs named his son after. About the casting, executive producer Gary Glasberg has said, "This is a very rich, emotional story and we couldn't be happier to have Billy Dee Williams bringing this character to life. ... Watching him work with Mark Harmon and Ralph Waite [as Gibbs' father, Jack] will be a real treat." Yes, Ralph Waite is going to be back in that October episode featuring Williams. That should be a good one. Each time Waite appears as Jackson is a good episode, and there's no reason this one should be any different.
But what will bring Jackson and LJ in during NCIS season 10? Could LJ somehow be involved in an investigation and turn to Gibbs for help? Could it just be a personal visit and they're in town while the team is working a case? Why will they be appearing when they do? Will the rest of the team meet LJ? They love Jackson, and it's easy to imagine the same being true about LJ. Gibbs' name has always been uncommon enough to be commented on, and it was no surprise that they worked in explaining how he got it when they first introduced Jackson. The next step does seem to be introducing LJ, and Williams should be the perfect person for the role.
