Lionsgate is keeping up its rapid pace in casting the Hunger Games sequel, announcing Tuesday that Stephanie Leigh Schlund will play former winning tribute Cashmere in Catching Fire.
Clearly, Schlund's character is not as soft as her name implies, since she managed to kill off everyone else in a past Hunger Games. Now Cashmere shows up with her brother Gloss, also a past winner, to compete in the Quarter Quell. (For more on the actor who'll be playing Gloss, go here.) Described as arrogant and conceited, Cashmere is also known to be "enamored of the Capitol" like her brother.
Stephanie Leigh Schlund is a name you probably haven't heard before, as she's relatively new to acting. But this former model on the game show The Price Is Right has ramped up her career in the last few years, with roles in the TV series Drop Dead Diva and Past Life, as well as bit parts in the movies We Are Marshall and the Miley Cyrus vehicle The Last Song. Next up she'll be in the new series The Following, with Kevin Bacon.
No doubt even a small part in a huge hit like Catching Fire will surely be is going to help get Schlund plenty more exposure in the next year or two.
