The Walking Dead returns to AMC for its third season this fall, on October 14, and when it does, Michael Rooker will be reprising his role as Merle Dixon, minus a hand and plus a bayonet. What's coming up for the Dixon brothers?
Walking Dead Season 3 Spoilers
Entertainment Weekly has a video interview up with Michael Rooker and Norman Reedus, and after they discuss how they'd do in a real apocalypse, they teased some of the Dixon reunion coming up. They're going to be on opposite sides when the season begins—Daryl as Rick's right-hand man, Merle in Woodbury with the Governor—but the two sides are going to meet, meaning the brothers will reunite in The Walking Dead season 3.
While Reedus said, "When Daryl and Merle finally meet up, they're going to be happy to see each other, of course, but I think this one's going to be a little more pissed off," Rooker added, "Well, I'm always pissed off, so that's not fair. That's a given. I think Merle doesn't like a lot of people. [Daryl is] probably the only person he really likes." Merle isn't exactly a nice guy, but still, fans are looking forward to seeing him again on the show (and not just in hallucination form). At this point, Daryl doesn't even know if he's alive, and it's likely Merle doesn't know if his brother is either, considering what they're facing.
Merle isn't exactly going to be on good terms with the rest of the group. After all, last he saw them, they left him cuffed to the roof, which led to him cutting off his hand to escape walkers. But when it comes down to it, will Merle choose his brother or the Governor? Since Rooker did say that Daryl's probably the only person Merle likes, will he switch over to the prison camp and leave Woodbury behind, even though he doesn't like anyone else in the group? Whatever happens, it will be good to see Merle and Daryl together in season 3.
