True Blood just ended its fifth season with Bill becoming whatever he is now, meaning his future and everyone else's is pretty uncertain. Meanwhile, Jason's on the hunt for Warlow, and Sookie's love life is still going to be complicated when the series resumes.
Season 6 Spoilers
Alan Ball talked to TVGuide.com about the finale and what's coming up, and if it's done right, the upcoming season could be quite an exciting one. Of course there are multiple questions out there about Bill now and what he is, but Ball just said that one of the questions to address is about his humanity: "Has he lost [it] entirely, or will it just have to fight harder to come out?" Ball may have left the show, but he did tease that "the writers are talking about [that] for next year." What will Bill be up to in True Blood season 6? Is it possible that Bill could ever be the Bill he used to be before he basically went crazy in season 5? That's hard to imagine after what he's done and what he could do now that he's transformed into whatever he is now.
Speaking of Bill, what will this mean for the love triangle that will probably never go away as long as Sookie is alive. It may have played a backseat to everything else in season 5, and there were those brief moments for Sookie and Alcide, but it sounds like the love triangle will be back. Ball pointed out what the fairy elder told Sookie ("There's a reason you give your heart out to every fangster you meet.") and said it's "going to be very interesting to find out why." Considering how Bill has been acting and with whatever's going to happen next with him, it seems more likely something could happen between Sookie and Eric while they're dealing with him before something happens between Sookie and Bill. Hopefully the HBO series isn't planning to have Sookie's love save Bill; they need to have something that hasn't been done before.
Speaking of Sookie's love life, Ball teased, "Even though it looks like Alcide and Sookie may have cooled things off, I'm not so sure that he's totally dropped the torch that he carries for her." Could season 6 see another moment for those two? It wouldn't be surprising if it didn't; he is going to be busy with the pack and she's going to be busy with Bill. Unless werewolves get involved with the Bill storyline, it seems likely they'll be separate for at least the beginning of the season.
There's also the matter of Warlow, whom Jason is determined to track down and kill, and everyone's been wondering who this Warlow is ever since his name was first mentioned. Ball only said, "We will definitely see Warlow. Whether or not we have met him already, I will remain mum. There will also be some other characters maybe who we know and love who are pursuing a less than generous agenda." Could these other characters perhaps be involved in the Warlow storyline? The bonus scene from the finale showed that Nora recognized the name Warlow when Jason said it; what will be her deal in season 6? How will she be involved in the Warlow storyline?
Finally, Ball also revealed that production has been moved to January because of Anna Paquin's pregnancy and that's one of the reasons why there are only going to be 10 episodes in season 6 (the other reason Ball cited is "economics"). Hopefully those 10 episodes will all be strong ones that will keep fans wanting to tune in.

but I can understand why... twins!
Wow, that will keep her busy!
Still, they could have done a few eps without her...
About Bill's humanity... Season 5 really ticked me off. I was almost NOT going to watch TB anymore by epi 8. It angered me that much, because they (A.B.) put so much character development into Bill Compton & his humanity. Note: they've only just begun really developing Eric's & Pam's characters. Bill makes mistakes, but he does have remorse. If he weren't remorseful for his actions, he would not have hidden things from Sookie. He knew he was wrong & knew she might not forgive him, so he hid it from her. He has a conscience & guilt. That is part of being "human." Humans make mistakes. Hopefully, the "new" Bill will regain that humanity, feel guilt, & get back to himself. I think the main reason for his insanity in Season 5 is that after a year of mourning Sookie (while she was in Faeryland), she returned & rejected him again. I think his broken heart & the rejection drove him to insanity. A few times, it had come up that Bill had a rough time & was broken hearted. I'm curious to know, given the new info about the contract under Gran's bed....why did Gran seem to actually like and fully approve of Sookie's relationship with Bill Compton knowing what he is? Why did Gran warn her NOT to give her heart to Eric? I think there's something more to those little details.
Eric is a great character (now), but he did some sadistic things with seemingly no remorse. He didn't have the same passion & chemistry with Sookie as her with Bill....he does with Nora (sister via Godrick, not human DNA tied). Nora is turning out to be really cool...it will be nice to see how her character unfolds further.
Meredith- I think blending some things that have already been done is fine, even if somewhat cliche...as long as there's a balance. (Personally, I'd love to see Sookie involved with "saving" Bill...& love a component of that.) Otherwise, if the writers try to do too much, it could fail like it did for LOST. That series finale REALLY ticked me off & made me wish I didn't spend so many hours watching LOST! They did so many things never done before, that they had too much on their plate & left the strorylines all unraveled.
I seriously hope that Mark Hudis (perhaps with guidance from Alan Ball) will not put so much into the character development only to leave a bunch of untied ends & do what LOST's writers did (sloppy series finale just to end it) & leave TB fans ready to throw things at the screen. In the end...I favor Sookie with Bill, because it just makes more sense. It should have nothing to do with who is perceived to be "hotter." (Is that why so many people want Eric with Sookie?)
That's my take on it. :-)
