Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy has one goal in mind as this year's all-star competition begins. He wants to win that mirrorball trophy for the show's very first winner, Kelly Monaco.
After Kelly won the trophy all those years ago, there was such an outcry from fans of John O'Hurley that the show decided on redo. The dance off ended up with John taking home the prize that rightfully was Kelly's. Now Val wants to help his partner redeem herself by winning the all-star trophy.
Although Monaco took the redo and her subsequent loss with amazing grace, it hurts to have her trophy snatched away. It was the only time the show's producers deemed it all right to undo the original audience vote. Since then, they've stuck firmly to their guns no matter the outcome. Kelly was the only exception and Val doesn't think that was fair.
Val called his newest dance partner "fit" and "super humble". He says this year will be the best for him because of Kelly. "She's really talented," he gushed to representatives of Access Hollywood.
Kelly's fans agree. They are eager to see the General Hospital star make the naysayers who cost her the original trophy eat their words. If any one can help Kelly get her revenge, Val Chmerkovskiy may just be the guy who can do it.
Dancing With the Stars begins September 24th, 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
