The 50 Shades of Grey movie favorites have changed rather drastically since it was first announced that the erotic novel was going to be adapted for the silver screen. So is Ashley Greene poised to become readers' top choice to play Anastasia Steele?
Once upon time there were probably plenty of Fifty fans who pictured Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson playing college student Anastasia and controlling business tycoon Christian Grey - after all, the 50 Shades novel was born as Twilight fan-fiction on the internet before beginning its long book shelf life. But then E. L. James said that she thinks that it would be too weird for Robsten to star in the movie, and Kristen cheated on Rob.
So with K-Stew looking like an awful option for the role of Ana, fans moved on to innocent-looking brunette beauty Alexis Bledel as a favorite for the role. Her support has been fueled in part by a few popular fan-made YouTube trailers for the 50 Shades of Grey movie.
But now the Gilmore Girls star's lookalike Alexandra Daddario is currently winning a Books & Review poll that lists potential actresses for the role, while Alexis is in second place. Alexandra might not just be the new favorite because of her looks - she also starred alongside Christian Grey favorite Matt Bomer on the TV series White Collar.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Twilight costar Ashley Greene was previously fifth on the list of potential actresses. But according to Books & Review, she has kicked Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale out of her fourth place spot and is quickly catching up to the third place Ana pick, Game of Thrones beauty Emilia Clarke.
So what's with the recent Ashley surge?
Perhaps Fifty fans have simply gotten tired of seeing the same Ana options over and over again and are looking for a fresh face to talk about, or maybe the 50 Shades lovers who are also Twihard fans have started embracing Ashley more because of K-Stew's cheating scandal. Ashley also has the right look for the role, and she has admitted to reading the books.
Ashley originally auditioned for the role of Bella in Twilight, so she'd probably love to score the lead role in the next big book-to-movie franchise. It's just a shame that E. L. James doesn't want Robert Pattinson playing Christian - starring in steamy sex scenes with Ashley Greene would be a great way for him to get back at K-Stew for cheating on him.
So can you picture Ashley playing Ana? And who would her Christian Grey be?
