The 50 Shades of Grey movie has sparked a few odd ideas about who should play Christian Grey, but Justin Bieber might be one of the strangest candidates yet.
When asked about the popular erotic novel, he reportedly told talk show host Jonathan Ross, "They actually want me to be in the movie!"
The press automatically assumed that the Biebs meant that he was approached to play sexy, hard-spanking billionaire Christian Grey, but it's possible that he was just offered a cameo role in the movie.
As PolicyMic points out, it would be extremely difficult for Justin to beat out the other actors that fans want to see cast as Christian.
White Collar star Matt Bomer is a heavy fan favorite after proving that he can strip down and get sexy in the male stripper movie Magic Mike. In White Collar he also shared a few sexy scenes with Alexandra Daddario, a favorite for the role of Anastasia Steele.
Like Matt, Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill has become a popular pick for the part, thanks in part to a sexy Dunhill fragrance ad in which he plays a Christian-like character. However, it seems more likely that the 50 Shades of Grey movie producers will pick a TV actor like Bomer for the film instead of shelling out the big bucks for the likes of Cavill or Ryan Gosling.
Other TV options for the part include The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder and Arrow star Stephen Amell. Even Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford would be a more fitting choice than Justin Bieber.
Even if the movie gets made ten years from now when baby-faced Bieber is old enough for the role, it's hard to imagine him being able to pull off playing a dark, seductive character like Christian Grey. However, there were once reports that the Biebs wanted to play Mark Wahlberg's crazy, murderous character in a remake of the movie Fear. So who knows? Maybe Justin's 50 Shades boast is just wishful thinking. Selena Gomez better watch out -- Justin Bieber has more than enough money to build his own Red Room of Pain.
For now the Biebs will have to leave the raunchy role to one of the big boys, but that doesn't mean that he can't show the world that he's ready to grow up with his own take on Christian's world -- Justin could always feature a few whips and chains in his next music video. Or he could star in a 50 Shades spoof like Selena Gomez -- she played a freaky version of Ana in the Funny or Die video 50 Shades of Blue.
So do you think that Justin is ready to go from singing about Buzz Lightyear to featuring BDSM in a music video? And as he pursues his acting career, will he ever develop the sex appeal that Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, and Henry Cavill have? Check out Henry's Dunhill fragrance ad below to see what you think.
