The 50 Shades of Grey movie has lost a potential Anastasia Steele.
There is a rather long list of favorites for the role of the cute college student who finds herself immersed in the BDSM world of whips and chains, and you would think that any of these actresses would love to play Ana - after all, the 50 Shades film could end up being the next Twilight or The Hunger Games. The 50 Shades books have become ridiculously popular, so it will be extremely surprising if the movies don't make mega box office bucks.
However, there are a few actresses who won't partake in any "kinky f**kery" no matter how much they get paid to do it.
Elizabeth Olsen already said that she's not interested in playing Anastasia Steele, and now Anna Karenina actress Keira Knightley is joining her in making sure that her name isn't on the 50 Shades of Grey movie producers' shortlist. According to NOW Magazine, here's what Keira said about playing Ana:
"Absolutely not! Just from what I've heard - f**k no.
The hardest thing to capture about love is the actual physical intimacy between two people. The way two people behave when they are next to each other and touching each other.
That's a difficult thing to capture on film."
Keira went on to say that she wants to focus on projects that are "happy and positive" instead.
Perhaps the real reason that Keira doesn't want to play Ana is that she's still traumatized from stripping down and getting spanked by Michael Fassbender in A Dangerous Method - maybe that experience made her realize that she just can't be comfortable with any kind of BDSM. This discomfort would make her a bad choice to play Ana since Christian Grey's reluctant sex slave eventually starts to enjoy a bit of non-vanilla sex.
Author E. L. James has said that she has four actresses in mind for the role of Ana, so perhaps Keira just made her shortlist even shorter. Most 50 Shades fans won't be too unhappy with Keira taking herself out of the running, however - there are still plenty of favorites for them to root for like Alexis Bledel, Alexandra Daddario, Lucy Hale, Felicity Jones, and Emilia Clarke.
So are you disappointed that Keira isn't interested in the movie?
