Maksim Chmerkovskiy's been a staple at Dancing With the Stars from the beginning. However, the man who calls himself "sex on stick" says he's finally ready to give it all up.
Maybe it's because he doesn't think the judges know what they're talking about. Maybe he just hates the stars with whom he gets paired. Or it could be because he just can't seem to capture that glitzy mirrorball trophy. Whatever, the reason, Maks says he's done.
With his contract running out at the end of next season, Maks says he has no plans to renew. He asks, "What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons?" He may have a point.
Last season, Maks caused a stir during an angry confrontation with the judges. Trying to make a point, he called the dancing competition his show. That didn't set well with a lot of people. While Maksim's certainly been an important figure on Dancing With the Stars, he's never taken on one of the starring roles. Those naturally fell to the celebrities and the professional dancers who walked away winners. Sadly, the latter is something Maks has never managed to do, much to his own consternation.
It is probably time for Maksim Chmerkovskiy to move on. He's 32 and he clearly wants to seek the kind of fame he can't find on Dancing With the Stars. No doubt, his fans will miss him. Still others will wish him well. As for the rest, they might actually breathe a bit easier not having to worry what volatile Maks might say next. That could be a welcome relief.
