A new season of Dancing With the Stars premieres Monday, and fans are excited to see Maksim Chmerkovskiy back dancing with fan favorite Kirstie Alley again. Typically Maks takes things season-to-season with the question of returning to DWTS, but Friday news came out that Chmerkovskiy has made solid plans to leave the show. His rep has confirmed that he will finish his contract and then move on to other opportunities.
Maks Chmerkovskiy is under contract for three more cycles of Dancing With the Stars, including the "All-Stars" season just starting. His rep confirmed to Access Hollywood that he will stick with the show through the next two cycles (which would be spring and fall 2013) and then move on from the show.
Chmerkovskiy shares that he has a role in a movie that begins filming in January, and he's hoping to land other acting roles. This isn't a new shift for DWTS pros, as both Derek Hough and Julianne Hough have followed the same path. Maks has shared that he is also considering doing a reality show with his brother and fellow DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy.
Are you disappointed to hear that Maksim Chmerkovskiy is officially setting the date when he'll hang up his Dancing With the Stars dancing shoes? Or are you excited to see him in other types of roles? Tune in to see Maks and Kirstie Alley strut their stuff once again when DWTS All-Stars premieres on September 24.
