After Evanescence wraps up their current tour, Amy Lee has said they'll be taking a break to spend time working separately. The group released their 3rd album last October after having taken a 5-year hiatus. For most bands, that's a long break, and can make it hard to get back into the market. Luckily for them, they haven't been forgotten, and lucky for fans that they still love to perform!
According to WENN, when asked if she hoped for a shorter gap between records the singer said, "...People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I'd rather make something that's awesome and then make people remember again. I hope it doesn't take five years, but I don't want to put a timeline on it either." At least she isn't making promises she doesn't know if she can keep!
Evanescence might be taking an extended break, but it's unlikely that the individual band members will be sitting still. From what Amy Lee said, it sounds as though they have other projects in the works outside of the band. If they hadn't already had a 5-year break between albums, you might almost think they were going to split for good, but Amy Lee seems confident that they'll be back on stage together, even if it takes half a decade.
