After a month of auditions and boot camp, The X Factor has finally been narrowed down to the top 24 contestants. Who makes it to the final 16 (warning: spoilers ahead!)? Examiner and Astrochicks have the details!
In the "Young Adults" group, mentored by Demi Lovato and her Lily Collins eyebrows, both websites have CeCe Fry, Jennel Garcia, Willie Jones and Paige Thomas advancing. Jennel and Willie both have awesome voices and are super-likeable, so it's great that they made the final 16. Hopefully Paige gets a stylist before the live shows start, because that leopard leotard with ass bunting she wore on Wednesday was beyond hideous. And CeCe -- ugh. Demi's right that she's really unlikeable. Unfortunately, she does have a great voice, so she totally deserved to make it to the final 16. It's sad that bullying victim Jillian Jensen didn't make the cut, but her performance on Wednesday night's episode wasn't great. Try again next year, girl!
In Simon Cowell's "Groups" category, both websites have Emblem3 (who aren't as good as Simon seems to think they are -- they're like the 2012 version of LFO), Lyric145 (who were surprisingly good) and Lylas making the final 16. But Examiner claims that the final group to make the cut is Dope Crisis, while Astrochicks says it's actually Playback. Dope Crisis was good but not great, while Simon clearly had dollar signs in his eyes while watching the One Direction-esque boy band Playback, so it looks like Astrochicks might be right.
In L.A. Reid's "Over 25" category, the contestants making the final 16 are Vino Alan (yay!), Jason Brock, David Correy and Tate Stevens. How did David even make the top 24? He wasn't great in his boot camp "duel" with Vino. Hopefully Examiner and Astrochicks are both wrong and Daryl Black makes the final 16 instead of David. Astrochicks also says there's a possibility Tara Simon could advance out of this group, but she's not as good as she thinks she is (seriously, did you see her butcher Queen's "Somebody to Love" during boot camp?), so hopefully this doesn't happen.
And finally, in Britney Spears' "Teens" group, both websites have Beatrice Miller, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Diamond White making the cut, and those three should be obvious based on their boot camp performances. But Astrochicks says the last contestant from this group is Arin Ray, while Examiner claims it's either Arin or James Tanner. At least Reed Demming didn't make the final 16; how he even made it to the top 24 is a mystery.
Both websites agree that there could be a 17th contestant added at the last minute, but neither knows who it is (hopefully not Tara!). Examiner also claims that there's a possibility it could end up being a Top 12 instead of a Top 16 -- if that happens, Vino, Paige and Dope Crisis are tipped to be out. But if it is 16 instead of 12 and if Examiner and Astrochicks are right about who makes the cut, it looks like the mentors did a really good job of selecting the best contestants for the live shows.
What do you think? Do you like the X Factor final 16? Do you wish someone else had made the cut? Sound off in the comments!
