Within the past few days, the new E40 and Too Short album "The History Channel" had its official 34-song tracklist revealed online. Fans of the West Coast emcees will be pleased to know it will be not one, but two new albums releasing from the duo, and on the same day, paying homage to different generations of the hip-hop genre.
The two albums will be called "History: Mob Music" and "History: Function Music" respectively. The new double album will be released on November 6, 2012, featuring two of the all-time pioneers in West Coast hip-hop. While Too Short didn't appear with E40 during the recent BET Hip-Hip Awards Cypher, he's certainly a name that has been in the game since forever. In fact, he may have even helped E40 get going.
According to TheVersed.com, E-40 said of the project:
"$hort was before me so we both seen all the genres, different eras of music. So we got fans that loved the old school music and we got fans that love the new school music. So it's called E-40 & Too Short: The History Channel. Function music which is for the newer era. So that's a whole album full of nothing but function music. And then we got mob music and that's just old school. The old school feel. We tryna make our fans feel like they used to on the mob music one."
Each of the two albums features a total of 17 tracks with several West Coast guest stars including B-Legit, Kurupt and Ice Cube on the projects. Additional guests will include Travis Porter, Tyga and Wiz Khalifa, all lending their lyrical skills to various songs. Overall, it seems like this is the type of project that could satisfy a lot of hip hop fans, both from the old and new schools. The wait is just several weeks before fans get to feast their ears on the 34 total tracks unveiled by the two rap veterans.
