In Hollywood, good characters don't always die. Sometimes they just change venues. That's happening with The Avengers popular agent, Phil Coulson. While Loki killed him the blockbuster film, the lovable character played by Clark Gregg comes back to life on TV for Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D.
Gregg has his own loyal following, having played in three other major comic book films -- Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2, and Thor. He also voiced a character for Ultimate Spider-Man.
While fans aren't sure how Coulson will make it back from the dead, the fact is they don't really care. The "how" isn't of interest. All they care about is the fact he'll be back in action once again.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting major attention from the Whedon brothers, who are developing the project for ABC. Jed Whedon's wife, Maurissa Tancharoen, is also getting in on the action.
Sadly, no start date has yet been set for the new series. It seems likely, it will get held back until next fall given that most of the key slots haven't been filled.
In the meantime, The Avengers remake is highly anticipated by audiences who fell in love with their superheroes all over again this past summer. Touted as one of -- if not the -- best comic books films of all time, its return to the big screen can't happen soon enough for fans.
