50 Shades of Grey movie favorite Ian Somerhalder has won yet another fan poll.
Since Ian is such a heavy fan favorite, casting him as Christian Grey should be a no-brainer for the movie producers. The actor has expressed an interest in playing the part, and he comes with a big built-in fan base because of his role on The Vampire Diaries. He's also definitely g
ood-looking enough to play Christian; he's read 50 Shades; and he looks like he's auditioning for the role in his new Timed Framed trailer.
However, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Ian's recent poll win and all those that came before it might not matter—the webloid claims that E. L. James wants Man of Steel star Henry Cavill to play Christian Grey. Since there's no source given for this information, Ian Somerhalder fans probably don't need to start panicking just yet.
Henry Cavill did indicate that he's open to starring in the 50 Shades of Grey movie, but he might decide against it if Man of Steel does well. If he proves to be a popular Superman, he might end up playing the part in the upcoming Justice League movie, or he could end up working on a Man of Steel sequel. These would obviously be well-paying jobs, so the 50 Shades movie money wouldn't tempt him as much. And if geeks do embrace him as Superman, he also won't want to alienate his new fan base by playing Christian Grey—most comic book lovers would probably get turned off if he becomes another Robert Pattinson with legions of screaming female fans.
In short, E. L. James could be out of luck if she really does want Henry. So perhaps it's time for her to take note of all the fan votes that Ian is getting—James or the 50 Shades movie producers might need to reach out to Ian to make sure that he wants the role badly enough to keep some room in his schedule for it. He's becoming one of the most popular actors in Hollywood, so it's possible that he could end up getting cast in another big movie before the 50 Shades casting process begins. This would obviously devastate and anger a lot of Fifty fans.
So do you think that the majority of 50 Shades fans are right in rooting for Ian, or would you like to see Henry or someone else as the brooding billionaire?
