Season 14 of the Biggest Loser premieres tonight, Jan. 6 and features the return of ever popular Jillian Michaels. This season 18 contestants take to the grind in trying to lose the most weight possible, three of which have been the source of some controversy because they are the first teenagers to grace the show.
Many people say that this is an attempt to create buzz around tackling the childhood obesity issue, but with such an undertaking in the workout area alone, one should wonder if the younger crowd should be dealt with in such a harsh manner. However, according to sources the children will not compete in challenges or be weighed publicly. They'll also participate from home to purely provide motivation to those watching.
Either way, Jillian Michaels says she's happy to be back on the show and she's been quoted as saying that she will stay for as long as the show has her. At the Television Critics Association Tour in California she stated, "Several things brought me back. First of all I missed Bob Harper and was excited to meet Dolvett Quince." She goes on to say that she underestimated how inspired people have been because of the show, which is something that she wants to be a part of.
It will be interesting to see how Jillian Michaels juggles her responsibilities as partner, mother, and celebrity trainer, as she was single and childless last time she appeared on the Biggest Loser. The show wasn't the same without her when she left so let's hope that the intensity she brought to the table returns with her. What do you think?
