Britney Spears might not be getting fired from X Factor after all. Despite reports that Simon Cowell was unhappy with her performance on the show, a new report suggests that Brit could be offered a nice deal to return for season 3. This contradicts other reports which suggest that the pop star has already been canned.
"People remain fascinated with 
[Spears] and always will be. She's just an interesting figure who's lived a unique life, and I thought she brought some of that. Maybe some people were waiting for more drastic displays of some nature that never came," explained FOX president, Kevin Reilly (via Gossip Cop). He reportedly made it very clear that he would like to see Britney continue as a mentor/judge next season.
Britney Spears did seem a bit shy and even awkward at times, allowing her facial expressions to display her feelings rather than her own words. While being on television—especially live television—on a show like this certainly takes some getting used to, people just figured that it wasn't Britney's thing and that she would move on. Of course her fans think that she wants to work on a new album and perhaps tour again, something that her X Factor schedule could interfere with.
Either way, Reilly admitted that there really haven't been any definitive talks about who will stay and who will go on season 3 of X Factor. LA Reid has already said he is leaving, giving the excuse that he's a busy guy and he has other things to tend to.
