'50 Shades of Grey' Movie: Shailene Woodley and...

The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors have really been coming fast and often lately. Two of the latest reports are about Christian Grey favorite Ian Somerhalder and rising star Shailene Woodley, so who knows? Maybe they'll get cast together as Christian and Ana.

According to Fansshare, Ian is

trying to make sure that his supporters don't get their hopes up by stating that the reports about his involvement with the 50 Shades movie are just rumors right now. The 50 Shades filmmakers keep reiterating that no official casting decisions will be made until the screenplay is finished and a director is chosen.

However, perhaps Ian Somerhalder will be one of the first actors to get his hands on a copy of the screenplay. He keeps on winning Christian Grey fan polls and has helped the 50 Shades of Grey movie get tons of publicity by talking about it. He even recently used his copy of the 50 Shades book to raise money for charity when he challenged fans to compete for it by making donations. So E. L. James and the filmmakers kind of owe him a chance to prove that he can play Christian.

Shailene Woodley hasn't really talked about playing Anastasia Steele, but it's not hard to see why EnStarz is reporting that she's rumored to be E. L. James' top pick for the role. She might be known for starring on the cheesy show The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but she started scoring some very juicy movie roles after getting critical acclaim for her performance in The Descendants.

Shailene Woodley was cast as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and will star in Divergent, a movie that's based on a series of books that have been compared to The Hunger Games. So she seems destined to become the next Jennifer Lawrence.

The 21-year-old is definitely the right age to play Anastasia Steele, but some fans might not think that she has the right look for the role since she doesn't have the same huge blue eyes and delicate features of fan favorite Alexis Bledel. However, fans of The Hunger Games weren't sold on Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss at first, and now most of them love her. So maybe Shailene will also grow on Fifty fans.

God no. I don't speak alone here when I said Shailene is not Anastasia Steele. There are a lot of rumored E.L. James picks, and she has kept hush-hush about it all. Shailene looks nothing like Ana is described in the book either, and she doesn't even give off the Ana Steele feel. Ms. James gave us a pretty nice description of these characters and because of that we expect to see the actors chosen to identify with them as much as possible. For example, contacts are one thing, but if you don't have the big eyes which is a key feature of Ana it's going to be a kill amongst most fans. Shailene doesn't even remotely have this feature, amongst others. Emilia Clarke and Felicity Jones are the best choices for Ana physically. They are also fantastic young actresses that can handle a mature role like this.
