The 50 Shades of Grey movie has gotten tons of buzz, so it's not surprising that it's seemingly started a new trend—now another erotic novel that was once Twilight fan fiction is being turned into a movie.
For aspiring erotica writers out there, here's the formula that works: make your "hero" a control freak businessman based loosely on Edward Cullen, and make your heroine a gal who
ignores his character flaws because he's so dang hot. The other 90 percent of your book just has to be explicit sex scenes, and you can use as many cliches as you please.
The movie based on Beautiful Bastard shouldn't be confused with Beautiful Creatures—the film that just hit theaters is being compared to Twilight because it's a supernatural romance. Instead Bastard is like 50 Shades of Grey meets Bridget Jones's Diary—the heroine has a snarky side just like Ms. Jones, and she sleeps with her bastard of a boss. However, her boss makes Hugh Grant's character look like a saint.
According to IB Times, Resident Evil producer Jeremy Bolt has decided to turn this second piece of Twilight fan fiction into a film. It was previously published under the title The Office before being yanked from the web; tweaked a bit; and turned into a book.
The novel is about Chloe Mills, an intern who absolutely loathes her boss--a charmer with the ridiculous name: Bennett Ryan. The two constantly trade jabs, but their hate quickly turns into passion. And of course they have to have sex all over the office.
Just like Christian Grey and Edward Cullen, Bennett Ryan ends up being possessive and controlling. However, he's not concerned about Chloe's safety and well-being at first—he's just a jerk who loves to rip her panties (there's a disturbing amount of panty-ripping and panty-hoarding that goes on).
The book isn't as dark as 50 Shades, so the movie might come off as being more of a rom-com. Whoever plays Chloe Mills has to have a snarky side, so maybe Krysten Ritter should get the job. She once said that she'd like to play Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades, but she might be better suited for this role. She even played a snarky, sex-loving character named Chloe on the TV series Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.
And the actor who plays 31-year-old business mogul Bennett Ryan will have to be really good at playing an irresistibly sexy jerk. Maybe Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill or Ian Somerhalder can play the part since only one of them can get cast as Christian Grey. James Franco would probably do a good job playing a jerk and has no problem with sex scenes, and Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen has played the biggest jerk in the universe. Or maybe the role should go to Robert Pattinson because of the Twilight connection.
