The 50 Shades of Grey movie screenplay is probably complete, so are E. L. James, the producers, and screenwriter Kelly Marcel meeting to finally talk casting?
It certainly seems like a possibility. James hinted that she was reading the screenplay yesterday when she tweeted this message:
"Good moaning all... I have been awake since 4 am... (sighs)... Luckily I had some very interesting reading to catch up... ;)"
The ugh-inducing "moaning" comment indicates that James was probably reading something racy, and a later tweet by the author definitely had her fans thinking about 50 Shades. Here's what she wrote:
"Thank you @DanaBrunetti@MichaelDe_Luca @MissMarcel for an awesome evening. :)"
Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca are the producers of the 50 Shades movie, and Kelly Marcel is the screenwriter. So it's very possible that E. L. James was tweeting about the screenplay when she wrote about catching up on some "interesting reading." She obviously wanted to finish reading the script so she could discuss it with Dana, Michael, and Kelly.
Dana Brunetti later tweeted about meeting up with the other masterminds behind the 50 Shades of Grey movie again tonight, so obviously some very serious discussions are taking place. It's possible that the group is meeting to talk about what changes should be made to the script, but there's another very important topic that needs to be discussed—who should be cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele?
James has hinted that she's all about Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey by saying that she's a fan of The Vampire Diaries and by tweeting her approval of a photo of the actor in a masquerade mask. However, some fans think that she might have partially based Christian on a character played by Henry Cavill in a Dunhill fragrance ad. There's also been talk about Tom Hardy playing Christian since he and Kelly Marcel are good friends and work colleagues, and a lot of fans are rooting for White Collar cutie Matt Bomer.
As far as the role of Anastasia Steele goes, there were once rumors that E. L. James favors Shailene Woodley for the part, while fans seem to prefer Alexis Bledel, Lucy Hale, and Emilia Clarke. James, the producers, and Marcel will have to make up their minds about who they want to reach out to soon since it was recently announced that the 50 Shades movie will hit theaters next summer.
So now that casting talk is finally starting, who would you like to see cast as Christian and Ana?
